MOTION: Councillor L. O'Toole, Councillor V. Casserly, Councillor Joanna Tuffy, Councillor C. Brady, Councillor H. Farrell
That this Area Committee requests that the Chief Executive arrange an early meeting between relevant Council management, representatives of the Mens Shed Lucan and local councillors.
This meeting is sought in light of the significant work undertaken to date in identifying a suitable location and facility for the Mens Shed Lucan. A coordinated engagement at this stage would be beneficial to all parties in progressing the project addressing any outstanding issues and supporting the delivery of this important community initiative.
REPORT:
We acknowledge the significant value that Men’s Sheds bring to communities, providing important social, recreational, and wellbeing supports, particularly in fostering inclusion, connection, and positive mental health outcomes.
We also wish to recognise and commend the considerable work undertaken to date by the members of the Men’s Shed Lucan in progressing this initiative. Their commitment and collaborative approach are a testament to the strength of community-led development, and we congratulate all involved for working constructively together on this motion.
The Community Department remains supportive of all initiatives that seek to enhance service provision and strengthen community infrastructure. In this regard, we would be happy to facilitate and convene a meeting between relevant council management, representatives of the Men’s Shed Lucan, and local councillors to discuss how best to progress the scheme
