"This TAC call on SDCC to provide a temporary solution for the busybeehive after school while works are ongoing at Killinarden community centre?"

REPORT:

The Facilities Support Team has been in constant contact with the service operators and has ensured they are kept fully informed of all developments relating to the closure and the subsequent works required to bring the building up to the appropriate health and safety and fire regulation standards.

All assessments have now been completed, and a programme of works has been agreed. These works have commenced, with a clear focus on prioritising the reopening of the crèche ahead of other areas within the building.

It is important to note that childcare facilities are subject to specific and often complex regulatory requirements. As such, it is highly unusual to identify and access an alternative unit that would be immediately suitable for use on a temporary basis.

We fully recognise the impact that the closure has had on the local community and families, and we have worked diligently to progress the necessary works as efficiently as possible, with the objective of reopening the facility at the earliest opportunity.
