MOTION: Councillor H. Farrell
To call on the Manager to return the area designated a 'bus stop' that is not associated with any bus stop, which is currently in front of the line of shops on the R835 in Lucan village just east of the crossroads in the village, to demarcated car-parking spaces. The more westerly bus stop area functions well because a bus stop is located at it, but the more easterly bus stop area has no associated buses linked to it, and it is a serious loss to the local businesses in terms of customer parking.
REPORT:
This location is included as part of the Bus Stop Enhancement Programme, which is currently reviewing bus stop arrangements across the area.
As part of this review, we will consider whether the existing bus stop can be relocated. Any proposed changes or improvements would need to be designed appropriately and approved by the National Transport Authority (NTA) Bus Stop Team.
At present, work is ongoing at a number of other bus stop locations that are further advanced. Once those locations progress, the bus stop in Lucan Village will also be considered for progression.
