QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons
To ask the Chief Executive for an update on the progress with the two TPOs; Green Lane and the Beech Wood on Fitzmaurice Road, Rathcoole, as agreed at this ACM and also noted and agreed at the Council Meeting.
REPLY:
At a Council meeting in November 2025 this matter was brought forward as a motion – Motion 2. The response of the Chief Executive can be viewed on South Dublin County Council’s website at https://meetings.southdublin.ie/Home/Agenda/2645?p=2
Having regard to the response at the meeting, the Council has no plans to progress a TPO for the burgage hedgerow in Rathcoole (Green Lane).
In relation to Fitzmaurice Road, the request for a TPO was included in the Reports from Area Committees on the Council meeting agenda in January 2026. The CE Response to the request was that a TPO was not expedient given that they are under the care of SDCC and that there is relevant policy in Living with Trees, the County Development Plan, the Climate Action Plan and the Corporate Plan for their protection.
Having regard to the process set out in the January meeting for TPOs under items 89477 and 89478, which outlined that the initiation of a TPO is an executive function, there are no plans to progress a TPO for Fitzmaurice Road.
