There are regular cleaning arrangements in place along the canal. These include the routine emptying of bins on the Southern Towpath and the removal of bulky waste, which is carried out by Waterways Ireland. These arrangements apply to the canal and Southern Towpath only and are managed by the Economic Development Department. 

While these arrangements do not cover the adjoining green space or the roadway at Lockview Road, the green space is managed and maintained by the Public Realm Department, and issues relating to dumping on the roadway also fall within the Public Realm remit.
