QUESTION: Councillor J. Sinnott

To ask the Chief Executive to provide a progress update on the Rathfarnham Castle Stables and Courtyard Project.

REPLY:

Following Part 8 approval for the Rathfarnham Castle Courtyard proposals in July, the project has now advanced significantly. Detailed design is being finalised by the external design team and Stage 1 of the main contractor tender was published at the end of February, with Stage 2 due for publication in Q3 2026. It is anticipated that the main contractor will be appointed in Q4 2026 pending the procurement process. It is estimated there will be an eighteen month construction programme with a projected completion by Q1/2 2028. The first phase of works will focus on delivering the core courtyard construction elements in line with the approved plans. Further community engagement has informed refinements to the layout of the reimagined Seán Keating Garden, security, and the car-parking area, ensuring the design reflects local feedback and project objectives.
