QUESTION NO.12
QUESTION: Councillor Tanya McDonald
To ask the Chief Executive for an update on the audit of public lighting performed in Woodfarm Acres estate in January 2026 and if he will make a statement on the matter
REPLY:
The following provides an update since the upgrade of Woodfarm Acres to LED lighting and a subsequent “night audit” which was undertaken to establish light levels throughout the estate.
- The works at the green space adjacent to the ESBN substation at Kennelsfort Rd junction have already commenced.
-
Following discussions with Public Realm regarding the possibility of providing additional lighting within the estate’s open spaces, it has been confirmed that current policy does not support installing extra lighting in open space areas where an alternative pedestrian route around the space is available for use.
- Some discrete areas around the estate where additional lighting can be installed at low cost have been identified and it is hoped to address these, once the works at ESBN substation are complete.
