QUESTION: Councillor L. O'Toole

Can the Chief Executive seek clarification regarding the Careline premises located within the Clonburris SDZ specifically to confirm that there are no current plans to change the use of the centre or introduce residential development on these lands? This matter was raised at a previous briefing and clarification is requested to ensure that the centre remains in place and that the lands continue to support facilities serving the younger population, particularly in terms of education, youth services and recreational provision.

REPLY:

The Careline Learning Centre is located within the boundaries of the Clonburris SDZ. The site in question is located in Kishogue North East character area - subsector 1, of the Planning Scheme. This character area is identified for mixed development area with medium density residential development, closer to the centre with low density on the perimeters. Small scale retail, commercial and community uses will be facilitated close to the schools and Park. Page 124 of the Planning Scheme sets out how this sub-sector will be developed. There is currently no live planning application on the site or recent grant of planning permission. Any future development on this site  would need to be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the SDZ Planning Scheme SDZ Planning Scheme - Clonburris.
