MOTION NO.20

MOTION: Councillor Joanna Tuffy

That the CEO look into the possibility of development of a Council owned enterprise centre in Lucan/Adamstown that could be rented by the Council to social enterprises, charities and NGOs that currently rent or seek to rent space in community centres for the purpose of offices for their staff and equipment, so as to free up additional space in community centres for flexible and the widest possible multi community use, and to ensure the planned Library/Civic building is not carved out for occupation and use by organisations for locating staff and equipment.

REPORT:

There are no plans at present to develop a Council-owned enterprise centre in the Lucan/Adamstown area. The Innovation Centre to be delivered as part of the planned Civic Building will operate on a model similar to Work IQ in Tallaght, with spaces available to rent to enterprises that meet the relevant criteria. The detailed operational model for the Innovation Centre has not yet been finalised.
