QUESTION: Councillor S. O'Hara

To ask the Chief Executive. Given the increased volume of diverted traffic using the L6032 in Newcastle, why have essential repairs not been completed, and when can residents expect the road to be brought up to a safe and proper standard.

REPLY:

The additional volume of traffic on this road in addition to the high volume of rain recently experienced has resulted in this road deteriorating at an unexpected rate.

SDCC have carried out significant works on the worst sections and a tender has been sent out to price a permanent repair. We will be trying to identify a funding source to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
