To ask the Chief Executive what Part 5 allocation of social housing units to SDCC has been agreed for the apartment block at the junction of Watery Lane and Orchard Lane in Clondalkin with planning reference, SD20A/0234?
REPLY:
The development at the junction of Watery Lane and Orchard Lane, Clondalkin, is a Build-to-Rent scheme. In line with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage’s (DHLGH) guidance, the council’s preference in such cases is to secure Part V delivery through the acquisition of units rather than on-site provision.
Following engagement with the developer, it was agreed that the council would accept an off-site unit within the administrative area to meet the Part V requirement. That off-site unit remains under consideration. In the interim, the developer has agreed to lodge the equivalent monetary value with the council, to be used for alternative social housing acquisition subject to DHLGH approval.
