QUESTION: Councillor S. O'Hara
To ask the Chief Executive to advise when the Council intends to deliver the construction of bus stops on the Hazelhatch Road (R405), between the Grand Canal and Newcastle Village, to facilitate the operation of the W6 bus service without delay.
REPLY:
Preliminary design for the proposed bus stops on the Hazelhatch Road (R405), between the Grand Canal and Newcastle Village, to facilitate the operation of the W6 bus service was completed in December 2025. The designs were subsequently submitted to the National Transport Authority (NTA) Bus Stop Enhancement Team for review and approval.
Once approval is received from the NTA, the Traffic Section of South Dublin County Council will proceed to the construction stage of these bus stops. Delivery of the works will also be subject to funding approval from the NTA. The Council is currently awaiting the outcome of the NTA’s review.
