QUESTION: Councillor H. Farrell

To ask the Manager to provide an update on expected quarterly plans to be implemented during 2026 on each part of the Greenway, to include any plans for the Boardwalk, and to include the expected project spends and the sources of funding for this.

REPLY:

Phase 1a (Grand Canal to N4)

This phase is funded by the NTA. 2026 NTA Allocation: € 445,000

Construction of the Parklands and secondary links (to local schools) will be completed in February, except for the planting (to be done within the appropriate planting season.

The current projected total costs of the construction phase of Ph1a is approx. €3,180,861.22 (includes costs of consultants for the construction phase).  The majority of that was paid in 2025, with the 2026 allocation for last invoices and final accounts.

The upgrade of pathways within the Clonburris Grounds will be covered by future Clonburris Parks work.

Phase 1b (N4 to Lucan)

This phase is funded by the NTA. 2026 NTA Allocation: € 200,000

Status: On Hold, due to resources and minimal movement on the land transfer. When there is progress the land transfer, the 2026 allocation will be used to procure a design consultant for detailed design

Phase 1c (Bridges& Boardwalk)

This phase is funded by the NTA. 2026 NTA Allocation: € 50,000

Bridge Status: On Hold, funding allocation for Q4 publication of tender for construction.

Boardwalk Status: Detailed Design: On Hold, due to resources
