MOTION: Councillor A. Smyth
"This Council supports the residents of Marlfield Estate in Kiltipper in their request for an EGM with their OMC, to address the recent introduction of parking charges and the lack of engagement from the management company and directors with residents around its introduction, and calls on the Chief Executive to support their request, as property owner of more than 10% of the properties in the estate, by signing their EGM Request. This council also calls on the estate management department to convene an urgent meeting with SDCC tenants of the estate and represent their views at said EGM, if granted?"
REPORT:
SDCC owns 39 properties in the Marlfield Housing Development and pays the management fees in respect of these homes. We received notification from the management company on 14th January 2026 regarding new parking controls being introduced in the estate. Following receipt of this notification, our Estate Management Team issued a letter to all our tenants notifying them of same.
In general, where our housing staff observe or receive complaints regarding the management of common areas in developments, contact is made with the relevant OMC or their property management agent to discuss the issues. The most common complaints from tenants relate to the cleaning of communal areas, maintenance and repairs. Similarly, the OMC can contact the Housing Department regarding issues relating to our tenant(s) where there are incidents of non-compliance with ‘house rules’.
If our tenants have any concerns in relation to the new parking controls being introduced, they can contact the Estate Management Team directly on 01 414 9000 or email estmgt@sdublincoco.ie .
If an EGM is convened a representative from the Estate Management Team will attend on behalf of SDCC tenants.
