QUESTION: Councillor L. O'Toole
To ask the Chief Executive to provide the Area Committee with an update report on the completion of the swimming pool element of the Lucan Leisure Centre, including the current status and anticipated opening timeline.
REPLY:
The main pool was filled in early January. The filling of the variable depth pool commenced the week on February 9th. Both concrete pool tanks were test filled earlier in the project and passed the water retention tests.
The completion contract at Lucan pool is progressing well with all of the builders work items complete or in progress as per the programme. Having filled the main pool, some remedial works have been identified with regard to the plant and equipment associated with the pool-water circulation and filtration systems. This is due to the time elapsed between their original installation and their being brought online in the past weeks.
The required repairs have resulted in some shifting of the timeline for the completion and commissioning process. The repairs to the main pool water treatment system are now complete and SDCC will be in a position to confirm a timeline for completion and handover to Aura Leisure once filling of the variable-depth pool is complete, and all systems have been brought online. We will communicate that date at the earliest possible opportunity.
