QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff
"Can the Manager make a report to this Area Committee indicating when the Welcome to Tallaght signage will be erected on the N81 and other entry points to our County Town?"
REPLY:
Funding for the Implementation of new Wayfinding Signage rollout is in place in the 3 year capital budget.
South Dublin County Council has a signage design consultant appointed on a new framework. Tallaght has been chosen as the first phase of design and delivery of new wayfinding signage. The next step is to set out in detail the deliverables required for the first phase of signage design and delivery and agree a contract price for this phase. The signage at the main approaches to the Tallaght (the Welcome to Tallaght signage) will be prioritised to be designed and delivered first. SDCC want to consult on the design options and preferred locations for this important signage. The plan is to have workshops with the members to decide the preferred design concept and preferred locations for the "Welcome to Tallaght" signage. I estimate these workshops will be held in June 2026. Following a wider consultation process, the preferred option will be manufactured and installed at the agreed locations.
