MOTION NO.17

MOTION: Councillor C. Brady

That this committee calls on the CEO to prioritise traffic-calming measures at Airlie Heights in Lucan and to engage with residents to progress these works (ref. TMM/26/976, members reps 1884041 and 1901009)

REPORT:

The item regarding traffic calming at Airlie Heights, Lucan (Ref. TMM/26/976 and Members’ Reps 1884041 and 1901009) was raised at the Traffic Management Meeting in January 2026.

At that time, it was confirmed that the location will be reviewed for potential traffic calming measures. A request was also to be forwarded to the Council’s Active Travel Section in relation to the Safe Routes to School initiative.

SDCC traffic section can confirm again that Airlie Heights will be included in next year's (2027) traffic calming proposals.

The public consultation process for the 2026 Traffic Calming Programme has recently concluded and the approved sites will move to construction in 2026.  The elected members were consulted on these proposals prior to the public consultation.

It is intended that preparation of the 2027 Traffic Calming Programme will commence in the third quarter of 2026. Airlie Heights will be included in that review. Any proposed measures will be presented to the elected members in workshop, and if there is general support, the traffic calming proposals will proceed to public consultation and then to construction in 2027.
