MOTION NO.14

MOTION: Councillor N. Fennell

To implore the manager to revisit the decision taken last year that resulted in a system of dangerous 'reverse parking' in order to use the busy bottle bank on Griffeen Road. In so doing, this assessment will prioritise road safety for motorists, cyclists and walkers in the first instance, by introducing a semi-circle, mini-roundabout or other deemed suitably safe system.

REPORT:

The revised layout to the bottle bank on Griffeen Road was constructed as part of the installation of cycle tracks adjacent to the site. The design and construction of the project, including the bottle bank and associated parking, was subject to a multistage safety audit. Recommendations made during the audits were implemented during the construction of the project.

The Public Realm team will review the current operations of the bottle bank with our colleagues in Transportation section, to ensure the safety for all users concerned.
