"To ask the Council for a report on public lighting faults in the Tallaght area, including a breakdown of the faulty/ broken lights that have already been upgraded to LED?"

REPLY:

The breakdown of outages is as follows:

Standard outages: 187 of which 68 are LED

ESB Required on Site/Cable faults: 143

Access issues :  27

Regarding the LED failures, we have carried out a preliminary survey of these throughout the county. 

Many of them can be attributed to cable faults, where a whole string of lights will go out of order at the same time.

Some are attributable to a particular supplier who has had quality issues. Our contractor no longer sources our fittings from them. 

We intend to investigate further to ascertain if there are quality issues with other suppliers and will take action accordingly.
