QUESTION NO. 12

QUESTION: Councillor K. Keane

"To ask the committee what is the policy for transfers from a medical priority allocation to a more suitable medical priority house in the case that the current allocation no longer suits the needs of the child for which medical priority was approved ,due to changed medical needs?"

REPLY:

Social housing tenants previously transferred on medical grounds may apply for a subsequent transfer if the medical condition has progressed to the point that their exiting accommodation is no longer suitable to meet their needs and a change in housing will improve or stabilise their circumstances.

Applicants must submit a new HDM Form 1 with all the relevant medical documentation to support their application to the Medical Section. Applications are considered provided the tenant(s) have been in the tenancy for 2 years, have no arrears on their rent account, have kept their dwelling in satisfactory condition, have complied with the conditions of their Tenancy Agreement and have no record of anti-social behaviour. Successful applications will be added to the medical waiting list.

All allocations, including transfers on medical grounds are carried out in accordance with the Council's Allocation Scheme which operates on a time on list basis subject to the availability of suitable properties.
