QUESTION: Councillor L. O'Toole
Can the Chief Executive provide a report to the Area Committee on the flooding issues reported following the storm weather in late 2025 outlining any flood alleviation works completed to date their effectiveness, and identifying any locations where flooding issues remain and further flood alleviation works are required?
REPLY:
There are currently 2 Major Flood Alleviation Schemes under construction in South Dublin.
1- The Poddle FAS is 68% complete and is expected to be completed in 2027. In February 2025 the impoundment area at Tymon Park was completed and alleviated flooding events downstream during the November 2025 weather event.
2 - The Whitechurch FAS is 57% complete and will offer significant flood alleviation to the downstream areas when the works are complete in 2027.
The Camac FAS is currently at design stage and the scheme emerging options will be presented to the Council at the year end.
Natural Water will present the 2026 Minor Works Programme to Lucan/Palmerstown/North Clondalkin ACM on January 27th.
