QUESTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin

To ask the Chief Executive for an update on their efforts to curtail the regular illegal dumping of household waste on the Bawnogue Road at Lindisfarne opposite Ashwood?

REPLY:

The area in question is regularly patrolled by the Councils Anti-Litter Warden. Any material found at this location is thoroughly inspected for any evidence that may identify the person or persons responsible for the dumping. It is noted that the reported incidences of dumping at this location have decreased in the last quarter of 2025.

However, this location has been added to the Waste Enforcement & Licensing Sections listing of potential temporary CCTV installations for 2026. A business case will be developed for submission to the Councils CCTV oversight board in line with the LGMA's code of practice, and if approved, CCTV will be installed for a fixed duration.
