MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons

That this council include an objective in the Clondalkin Framework plan that SDCC supports a Clondalkin as a Fairtrade Town

CE REPORT :

The proposed motion seeks to include an additional objective within the Clondalkin Local Planning Framework which relates to supporting Clondalkin as a Fairtrade Town.

It is noted that Objective CDE 11 of the County Development Plan 2022-2028 states as follows;

CDE Objective 11

‘To support the concept of Fairtrade within the County’

Having regard to the existing objective within the County Development Plan and that Fairtrade is not something which is relevant or can be delivered through a land use plan, it is considered that an objective is not required to be added. The concept is sufficiently supported through the existing objective in the County Development Plan. The implementation of this objective will require a wider community and business commitment within Clondalkin to the achievement of Fairtrade Town status. 

CE Recommendation

No change to the draft LPF (Variation no. 1) on the basis that there is an existing objective supporting the motion in the County Development Plan.
