QUESTION: Councillor L. O'Toole

To ask the Chief Executive for an update on the proposed coffee docking station at the teen space in Griffeen Valley Park, Newcastle Road, including the current status of the project any engagement with potential operators and an indicative timeline for delivery.

REPLY:

The proposed addition to a coffee shop to the teenspace at Grifffeen Valley Park is still part of the current teenspace programme. However the proposa has been subject to 2 formal tender procurement processes at this stage, without any response or interest. In addition, the proposal has been subject to an informal negotiated procedure, again without success or interest. There are proposals for building / upgrade works within the park and adjacent to it in the coming 12 months, so it is not envisaged that the proposal would generate interest or be successful during that stage. However, once the works are complete they will likely generate additonal footfall in the area which may be attractive to coffee shop operators. The proposal can be reviewed at that stage.
