MOTIONS NO.22

MOTIONS: Councillor L. O'Toole

That this Committee notes the increasing number of water outages and flooding incidents in the Lucan area and asks the Chief Executive if they are aware of these ongoing outages and can report on the number that have occurred over the past 6-12 months, including how many were due to accidental damage or pipe breakages. This motion also seeks to highlight the ongoing issue with the Uisce Éireann text alert system whereby many residents report receiving notifications after the outage time has already commenced making the service ineffective in providing timely information. Should the matter require further examination that a letter issue to Uisce Éireann requesting a detailed report on: 1. The number and causes of recent water outages in the Lucan area 2. Any correlation between these outages and ongoing underground works and 3. The steps being taken to improve communication and reliability of service to residents.

REPORT:

 If this motion is passed, a letter in this regard will be issued to Uisce Éireann on behalf of the Local Area Committee. The response, when received, will be circulated to the Members
