MOTIONS: Councillor L. O'Toole

That this Committee requests that South Dublin County Council develop a Traffic Alert System to keep residents informed of planned and active roadworks, traffic management and utility works across the Lucan area. Such a system would help improve coordination, reduce disruption and allow the public to plan their journeys more effectively.

REPORT:

All third party utiliites should alert an Garda Síochána of planned roadworks on public roads.

Third party road opening licence applicants are conditioned to contact AA roadwatch to publicise current roadworks on public roads.

On larger roadworks that are for significant time periods, the applicant's are conditioned to install variable message signs in the vicinity of the roadworks.

A member of the public can use the Google Maps mobile app (Android / iOS), to notify roadworks locations using the “Report” button on the App. 

A member of the public can choose from incident types such as roadworks / construction, lane closure, crash, object on road, etc.
