MOTIONS: Councillor H. Farrell

To call on the Manager to prepare and implement a targeted Economic Recovery Plan for Lucan Village businesses, to address the long-term impact of recent roadworks and planning schemes on footfall and growth. This plan should include direct and specific practical measures to restore footfall, support business resilience, and promote Lucan as a vibrant commercial destination, in collaboration with the Local Enterprise Office and other suitable bodies.

REPORT:

The Economic Development Department will liaise closely with the relevant internal departments to ensure the effective promotion of the completion of the recent works in Lucan Village. The Council will continue to work across the organisation to ensure that Lucan is positioned and promoted as a vibrant commercial and visitor destination as the village transitions from the construction phase into the next stage of its development. This could include a short, sharp “Lucan is Open” campaign once works are complete (digital, local press, social media, outdoor posters, council channels), highlighting improvements made — improved accessibility, enhanced public realm, better connections and an improved visitor experience in the village.
