QUESTION NO.15

QUESTION: Councillor C. Brady

To ask the Chief Executive if the council provides a leaflet or guide outlining supports and funding available for older people, including contact details for information and guidance, and opening and closing dates for applications. If such a resource does not currently exist, would it be possible to prepare and make one available?

REPLY:

The Community Department produces a Community Services Booklet annually. This booklet provides comprehensive information on all supports and grants available to all members of the community, including older people, together with guidance on the application process. It also includes full contact details for the Community Development Team, which has responsibility for administering community supports and grant schemes.

To ensure that groups receive the highest level of advice and support, groups are encouraged to contact the Community Development Team directly. A Community Officer will then be assigned to work with them as needed.

The booklet is available in hard copy and can also be accessed online via the Council’s website when the grants are open for applications. In addition, the Community Development Team offers training and capacity-building supports to assist groups in understanding and accessing available grants. The booklet is updated on an annual basis to ensure all information provided is current and accurate.

Councillors may obtain copies on request.
