MOTIONS: Councillor W. Carey

That this Area Committee agrees that SDCC should prioritise footpath repairs where roots from mature trees are clearly lifting those paths and creating a danger to pedestrians.

REPORT:

In locations where tree roots are the cause of footpath displacement Road Maintenance engages with Public Realm to discuss whether the root can be removed without destabilising the tree.

If root removal is a suitable solution then this is undertaken and the footpath repaired.

If the tree needs to be removed then Public Realm undertake this task and inform us when the tree has been taken down, at this point Road Maintenance can undertake repairs.
