QUESTION NO. 5
QUESTION: Councillor W. Carey
To ask the Chief Executive if they can offer a date for completion of works in Corkagh park or alternatively a timetable and schedule for completion of different aspects of the project? It has become a cause of concern among local users of the park that the project delay is detrimental to full use of the park.
REPLY:
The café building in Corkagh Park is due to open within the next 2 weeks. The adjacent stage and plaza area will be completed in early November. The stage site will be cordoned off so it will not cause any hindrance to the operation of the café during this time. All carparks are fully open, however temporary gates are in place at the St. John’s Carpark and the Outer Ring Road Carpark. The permanent iron gates will be installed before the end of this month. The replacement of signage and wayfinding in the park has been delayed due to SDCC’s rebranding. Work is presently progressing on the redesign, and installation is due to commence in November.
