MEETING OF TERENURE-RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE 1
Tuesday, September 05, 2006
MOTION No. 15
MOTION: Cllr. Cáit Keane
"That this committee discuss with the aid of an informed report - parking proposals for Pearse/Palmer Park - now that the submissions/recommendation have been recieved from the community as part of the consultation process in the Ballyboden Village Plan."
REPORT:
The report on the
Ballyboden
Village as presented by the Planning Department has dealt with the issue of Parking requirements in
Ballyboden
Village (page 23). Generally new developments will be required to provide appropriate on site parking and on street parking will be improved where appropriate. The report also recommends “that an objective be included in the Draft Village Plan to seek improved parking facilities and traffic management”.
The proposals for the provision of parking in
Palmer
Park , Rathfarnham was presented to the members previously. The proposed arrangements were either not accepted by the members or not within the financial ability of the Council, and were rejected by the residents in any case. The residents seek the provision of parking in front of their respective dwellings. This would entail major excavations. The provision of parking areas substantially lower than the adjoining footpath is undesirable and would create major safety concerns.
