MOTION: Councillor Y. Collins
That this Council furnishes more bins in the Rathfarnham Templeogue area, to encourage the binning of dog poo and to reduce general littering
REPORT:
The provision of litter bins is carried out in accordance with the Litter Bin Installation Protocol as set out in the Litter Management Plan. The protocol sets out the basic principles for litter bin placement to provide consistency and appropriate coverage in all parts of the county.
Locations where requests for bins should receive priority for litter bin placements are:
There are approximately 900 litter bins across the county, located both on-street and within public parks, all of which are available for the disposal of light litter including dog waste. South Dublin County Council proactively reviews the provision of litter bins to ensure they remain appropriately located and in line with the objectives of the Litter Management Plan. Where there is clear demand, and subject to meeting the required criteria, additional bins may be installed. Suggested locations within the Rathfarnham–Templeogue area will be considered as part of this ongoing review.
