MOTION: Councillor P. Holohan

"This TAC requests a BMX coach to be provided two days a week at Jobstown pump track to encourage the safe use of the facility?"

REPORT:

Active South Dublin are running the following Initiatives at Jobstown pumptrack  

• Monthly BMX tasters run by Lucan BMX to continue in February. Three very successful tasters were organised before Christmas, including the official opening with St Kevins National School
• BMX Facilitator engaged to run a school’s programme & after school sessions (twice a month)
• BMX bike library to be launched in Citywise. Local youth groups/community organisations can borrow bikes for free to run their own “pop-up” sessions with local young people
• During the above sessions we will be looking to recruit volunteers for a potential club. 

This engagement with the community is developing safe use of the facility and for sustainability, upskilling local volunteers to lead sessions/start a club is the best model moving forward which Active South Dublin will progress through out 2025.
