MOTION: Councillor J. Spear

"This Area Committee calls on the Manager to urgently investigate the dangerous traffic situation around Tallaght schools during drop-off and pick-up times and develop a plan to mitigate the danger to children and parents?"

REPORT:

The request is to investigate the traffic situation around schools in Tallaght during drop-off and pick-up times. South Dublin County Council recognises the importance of ensuring the safety of children and parents in these areas.

Many Safety improvements have already been implemented in various locations around different schools in Tallaght. SDCC will continue to identify locations around schools that require further safety measures.

The Council has allocated funding in 2025 to implement the South Dublin Safe School Zones programme. It is hoped that this is the start of a multi-annual programme to improve safety at school locations in the County.

The specific measures to be undertaken under this programme will be brought to the LUPT SPC for agreement before implementing them in the County.
