MOTION NO.9

MOTION: Councillor J. Spear

"This area committee asks the manager to conduct a *traffic and pedestrian flow survey* at Scoil Santain National School in Tallaght during peak hours (8:50am and 2:30pm) to identify the most problematic areas and implement appropriate safety measures? These measures could include but are not limited to: Traffic calming systems, Improved pedestrian crossings, School crossing patrols, or Enhanced signage and visibility for drivers and pedestrians?"

REPORT:

There is a Road Safety Officer being appointed at the moment. When the RSO is in place they can conduct a traffic and pedestrian flow survey for Scoil Santain National School.

A preliminary study of the school arrival areas, does indicate that on some of the approaches to school proper set down road marking and signage is in place.  In some places there are worn markings and these can be refreshed.

When the school drop off survey is conducted, other recommendations may be recommended and these can be installed at that time.
