COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, October 29, 2024
QUESTION NO.
QUESTION: Councillor L. Dunne
"To ask the Manager how much is it costing the Council to remove illegal dumping across Tallaght annually with a breakdown between Tallaght South & Tallaght Central to also include the breakdown of costs of specific blackspots areas?"
REPLY:
It is not possible to provide costs for the removal of illegal dumping by electoral area or by individual site. The clean up operation for Tallaght is provided across two operational depots and has multiple vehicles and staff assigned to it. A clean up vehicle will clean up multiple sites in a day and since the time spent by the crew is not recorded by site then wage costs cannot be broken down by site. Similarly the waste from multiple sites is mixed in the clean up vehicle and cannot be weighed or costed by individual site.
The total expenditure on removal of illegal dumping across the County in 2023 was as set out in the table below, broken down by month.
