COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, October 29, 2024
QUESTION NO.
QUESTION: Councillor D. Donnelly
"Is there any structural or open area available in the Tallaght area i.e. Parks for local beekeepers to set up and raise a hive?" As benefits include helping with the eco system environment.
REPLY:
There is currently one apiary in South Dublin County Council parks and this is provided in a remote part of Waterstown Park in Palmerstown. The Council is happy to examine possible locations for the establishment of a beehive however it would require the involvement of an experienced beekeeper and would have to be done in such a way and at such a location where there is no hazard posed to the general public.
