MOTION: Councillor L. Dunne

"This Area Committee calls on the Manager to install netting in Kiltalown Park alongside the N81 to deter rock throwing from the park side?"

REPORT:

The proposed installation of netting along the N81 has been assessed and is not considered a practical solution, as it wouldn't fully prevent rock throwing, could create safety concerns by being used for climbing, would require extensive maintenance, and would have negative environmental and visual impacts. The Public Realm Section will monitor the area for debris, and we will work with An Garda Síochána to explore more effective measures, such as increased surveillance and community engagement through the Community Department of South Dublin. The recent upgrade to Kiltalown Park playground is also providing additional passive surveillance.
