QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff

"Could the Manager make a report to this Area Committee regarding the number of Garda Clearance checks outstanding for people in the Tallaght area who have either had an allocation or transfer offer from South Dublin County Council and the average waiting time for Clearance to come back from An Garda Siochana?"

REPLY:

Official offers and acceptance have been received in respect of 90 properties in the Tallaght area. 

Garda checks have been completed for 34 applications and the allocation of these properties are currently underway.

To date in 2024, the Council has received 1338 Garda reports for the County with an average processing time of 12  weeks.  There are currently three hundred and fifty nine ‘Section 15’ requests outstanding, the majority of which are requested from Tallaght, Clondalkin and Lucan/Ronanstown Garda Stations. The Council has written to the Superintendents for these districts highlighting the impact on our housing allocation timeframes and our willingness to work with An Garda Síochána to review and streamline the process to improve efficiencies.
