"That this Committee calls on the Roads Department to install as a matter of priority Pedestrian Lights at the junction of Belgard Road and Embankment Road to faciltate people from Kingswood Heights walking to the Belgard stop of the Luas line in view of a serious accident that occurred at this location recently."

REPORT:

The suitability of providing pedestrian facilities at this location was examined jointly by the Roads Department and the RPA prior to construction of the LUAS Line A, and was considered unsuitable in light of layout and available widths. In addition, it was felt that pedestrian movements in the general area were adequately catered for. In this regard, the Kingswood stop is seen as the appropriate facilitiy for the Kingswood and Kilnamanagh areas, with the Belgard stop primarily serving passengers west of the Belgard Road.
