QUESTION NO. 2

QUESTION: Councillor C. Brady

To ask the Chief Executive to provide a report on the status of access to Lucan House for local groups, who were facilitated access by the Italian Ambassador, following the Council's acquisition of the property, and advise on how the council can ensure continued access for these groups to this significant archaeological and heritage site, pending the consultation and development of a formal plan for its future use?

REPLY:

The Council is currently is in a public procurement process for a Masterplan for Lucan House and Demesne that will have have full regard to the setting and integrity of this environmental and heritage landscape. As part of the Masterplan, an Archaeological Survey will be conducted which will survey the entire property, record baseline data and make recommendations where required. Any archaeological work carried out prior to this Survey, may impact on the development of the Masterplan. Stakeholder engagement will be part of the masterplan process.

In the interim EEDT are introducing a permit system for continued access for Local groups who can submit a request for access to the Economic Development Department econdev@sdublincoco.ie..
