QUESTION NO. 6
QUESTION: Councillor T. Costello
"To ask the manager following up on my previously submitted question - "To ask the Manager can instruction be sent to the owner to reinstate the wall at the old gate entrance to Katherine Tynan House?" and "can I get an update on when works will commence?"
REPLY:
There has been a number of correspondences between the owners and the Councils Architectural Conservation Officer, LUPT in relation to the site. The Councils ACO had contacted the owners in September 2023 seeking an update. The most recent correspondence from the owners representative provided a quote for the proposed works. However, the Councils Architectural Conservation Officer sought confirmation in relation to the scope of works and specification, as the works detailed in the quote did not correlate fully with the works already agreed which were detailed in a Method Statement completed by the owners Conservation Architect.
The owners rep was requested to submit further details and to confirm a date for completion. No update has been provided since the end of last year so the Councils Architectural Conservation Officer has made contact with the owners and their Conservation Architect again asking for an update. Given the lack of update and that the required works have not been completed to date, the ACO will recommend that a Warning Letter be issued from Planning Enforcement. A Warning Letter would remind the owners of their duty of care and request that the boundary wall which forms part of the protected structure be repaired and reinstated as previously approved and agreed in line with best conservation practice. The owner will also be advised that failure to respond to the Warning Letter and the requirements, may result in a Section 59 Endangerment Notice being issued.
