QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"To ask the CEO to confirm if all works at Tallaght Stadium are now completed; will he give details and state when the new Stand will be available for spectators and will he make a statement?"

REPLY:

It is expected that substantial completion will be reached by the Contractor on the Stadium Project in January 2024, with some ancillary works still being completed during the month. The revamped Corporate and Hospitality areas are completed, except for some minor snagging issues to be resolved. The South Stand improvements will be completed with improved accessible seating with canopies provided and a Changing Places facility in place. 

We expect that the North Stand will be in use for the start of the 2024 football season, subject to all safety certification being in place. There may be a limit on capacity initially to allow for Stadium operations and procedures to bed in as well as for the match day management plans to take account of the increased capacity at the Stadium. The Stand is expected to be used for the Presidents Cup on the 9th February. 

The completion of this Project is a major step in the modernisation of the venue to allow it continue to host the important games for both domestic as well as European and International fixtures. In addition we are hoping to host many Corporate and Community meetings and events as well as large scale events in the venue over the next number of years.

The Council, and Stadium Management, are looking forward to welcoming an increased number of spectators to the venue during 2024.
