MOTION: Councillor J. Sinnott

To ask the manager to include Barton Drive, Rathfarnham Dublin 14 in the schedule for new tree planting in 2024. A number of trees have been removed from Barton Drive in recent years and there are gaps on along the Drive that would be ideal locations for new planting.

REPORT:

Barton Drive Rathfarnham has 37 trees present; 5 trees have been removed in recent years due to arboricultural defects. At the November meeting of this area committee the tree planting programme was presented to local elected members. This outlined the Council's plans to plant 594 trees within the Rathfarnham ACM area for 2024. Barton Drive will be examined for tree planting opportunities as requested here, in particular in relation to replacement planting for those trees which have been removed in recent times.  If suitable locations are identified then they can be included in the current tree planting programme.
