MOTION: Councillor C. Keane
"That this committee recommends that the roads department gives an initial outline of new proposals for car parking in Pearse Brothers and Palmer Park as a result of the submissions and proposals put forward as part of the Ballyboden Village Plan consultation process. The three schemes proposed by the Roads Department two years ago were not acceptable to residents. There are now alternative layout/proposals submitted in the various submissions from Palmer and
REPORT:
Palmer and Pearse Brothers Park Estates were not designed to provide for individual private car parking spaces. Roads Department accepts that there is a parking problem
here and put forward 4 No. proposals of public car parking spaces for consultation.

It was made clear to the Council that provision of public car parking facilities would be unacceptable to the local community. South Dublin County Council’s Roads Department are not in a position to seek funding to provide private car parking facilities for individual residents.

Submission(s) refer to the “huge loss” of amenity if Road Dept. Proposals B, C and D were to go ahead.

Proposal(s) refer to many short roadside lay byes where the cost of utility/service diversions could be considerable.
The proposals from the Planning & Housing Depts. have been referred to Traffic Section for consideration with a view to facilitating the provision of public car parking spaces in both these housing estates.
