QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons

To ask the Chief Executive for a report on the housing development between Ashwood and the canal in relation to access for the residents of Ashwood and alpine who use the canal slipway that is now blocked off?

REPLY:

The walkway in question will be closed for the duration of the projects as access is required to services beneath this path and as such it is not possible to exclude the path from the works area. The closure is also in line with our approved traffic management plan.

Alternative access to the canal is available c. 200m to the east (Fonthill road) or 400m to the west (across the green space) connecting to the Canal.

Consideration will be given to provision of a temporary footpath if safe to do so as the project progresses. An update will issue to the area committee on this matter.
