MOTION: Councillor L. O'Toole

Motion aimed at enhancing accessibility to the car park in Griffeen Park. Motion: This committee requests that the Chief Executive confirms the plans to allow the car park in Griffeen Park to open early in the morning, enabling school traffic to take advantage of using the car park. Now that the gates on Newcastle Road are electric and switched on, the process to open early can be easily achieved. It's firmly believed that early access to the car park will significantly benefit school traffic and contribute to the efficient flow of morning activities.

REPORT:

The automated gate at the Newcastle Road car park is scheduled to open after 9am each morning.  The opening time has been set to avoid an issue of all day parking which would compromise the availability of parking spaces for park users.  Subject to the approval of this motion, the gate opening time will be adjusted to an earlier time of 8am on a trial basis.  The earlier opening time will be permanently retained if all day parking does not manifest itself.
