QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"To ask the CEO to take action in respect of concerns of local residents regarding serious speeding on Maplewood Road from the junction with Cookstown Way down to the roundabout at Alderwood Avenue; will he appreciate the previous calls that additional action be taken to coincide with the opening of the new Age Friendly development at Maplewood Heights; will he accept that speeding is an issue on Maplewood Road and will he make a statement?"

REPLY:

The traffic section are happy to meet a small number of residents representatives along with the elected members to get detailed accounts of where the speeding is alleged to be happening.

We are procuring speed surveys around the county and will include this location for detailed speed survey measurements.

Following this meeting and information gathering, the traffic section will assess the most appropriate measures to reduce speeding if and where it is occurring.
