QUESTION NO.
QUESTION: Councillor T. Costello
"To ask the Manager is there an update on the timeline of when the historic bridge will be rebuilt on the Sean Walsh Park age friendly housing site?"
REPLY:
The proposal for reincorporating the bridge structure within 'The Weir' Age Friendly Housing Development at Whitestown Way, was agreed by the Committee members in association with Clúid Housing and provides for an arched stone wall planter and seat in the same area of the site as the original bridge wall incorporating the sensitive re-use of the original material. This will be a prominent feature in the new development, providing acknowledgement and appreciation including the arch design, a plaque containing historical information on the bridge and adjacent dark paving to mark the original location. Clúid Housing have advised that the housing development will be substantially completed by the end of December 2023. The works noted to re-instate elements of the old bridge structure within The Weir Housing Development are scheduled as part of the landscaping package, which will be some of the last activities to be carried out on site. The Contractor is focussed on completing the new homes at present with the roads/utilities infrastructure to support same. Landscaping works will start in the middle of November, and Clúid will liaise with the Council before these particular reinstatement works proceed.
