MOTION NO.17

MOTION: Councillor L. McCrave

That this area Committee calls on the Council following the recent development within Templeogue village to put a small slow down sign on the cycle lane through Templeogue Village, in the interest of children and all pedestrians safety.

REPORT:

It is not the Council's policy to provide slow signs on cycle tracks and there are no plans to provide them.   They are not used on cycletrack and such signs do not feature in the New National Cycle Manual.  

The manual does however allow for some yield markings on cycletracks.

It is also of note that this scheme was subjected to a road safety audit and the cycle track is deemed safe.

Nonetheless, we will examine location and liaise with NTA to see if alternative options might be possible to address the issue raised.
